At Opvang Anders, every child is given the space to explore the world in their own way and at their own pace. We offer a warm, nurturing environment rooted in anthroposophical principles, supportive of each family’s uniqueness and developmental journey.

Who We Are

We believe every child is unique and should develop in a self-directed way. You don’t need to be anthroposophical to join us we warmly welcome all families who feel at home in our atmosphere and approach. Our childcare is high quality, affordable, and non-profit.

Expat families and non-Dutch-speaking parents are very welcome. We have extensive experience working with families from a wide range of cultural, religious, and linguistic backgrounds. Our team is used to supporting children and parents as they settle into life in the Netherlands, and we do our best to communicate clearly and personally in both Dutch and English.

Registration and Locations

You can register without obligation by clicking the “Inschrijven” (Register) button on our website. This provides us with an initial expression of interest and helps us understand your childcare needs — no commitment is required at this stage.

After registering, we will contact you personally to discuss available options. You are also welcome to schedule a tour or orientation meeting with our team to get to know our locations and philosophy in person.

We offer care at multiple locations in Amstelveen:

• Minne (Surmontstraat 49) is our central childcare location and home to one of our vertical groups, welcoming children of mixed ages from 0 to 4 years.
• Rozelinde, located within the Parcival Vrijeschool building, offers a full day vertical group for children aged 0 to 4. This setting allows children to grow and develop within the same familiar environment over several years. Being situated in the school also creates a warm connection to the broader school community, while remaining a safe and nurturing space specifically for young children.
• Tomte is our toddler group, designed specifically for children aged 2 to 4. Located in a peaceful, natural setting, Tomte offers gentle rhythm, seasonal activities, and age appropriate group experiences that support independence and imagination.

Each location and group follows the same pedagogical values while offering its own unique atmosphere and rhythm.

Toddler Programme: “Peuterarrangement”

The Peuterarrangement is a specially funded early years programme for children aged approximately 2½ to 4 years. It offers a gentle, structured introduction to group care in a safe and nurturing environment.

• Children attend up to 11 hours per week, usually across two fixed half days during school weeks.
• Activities support motor, social, emotional, and language development, all within a rhythmic daily routine based on seasonal themes, storytelling, song, crafting, and outdoor play.
• Groups are kept small so each child receives individual attention and feels secure.
• The programme follows the anthroposophical principles of Opvang Anders, honouring each child’s natural pace and imaginative capacity.
• It is heavily subsidised by the Municipality of Amstelveen. For families not eligible for childcare allowance, the parental contribution is only around €0.45 per hour, making this high quality care widely accessible.

This toddler programme is a wonderful first step outside the home, fostering independence, curiosity, and confidence in a warm and familiar environment.
